Famine of Beauty

I can not wait to see The September Issue. It's the real Devil Wears Prada.

Please, let's lift it!

P.S. Chanel Coco Pink lipstick is blowing my mind right now.

Wildcat!

I really love Emma Watson's make up on the cover of Elle UK.

Here's a great video from behind the scenes of the shoot that includes an interview with the make up artist, Sharon Dowsett. (Sharon is another "make up artist to obsess over"... she is responsible for the MAC/Ungaro colab and my favorite cream color of all time, Crushed Bougainvillea!)

I'm always a sucker for the juxtaposition of heavy eye make up with a baby face. I love that she put gloss on her lids. That's one of my favorite little tricks to get the perfectly messy rock n roll look.

Working Day and Night

When I first heard about the beautyblender I didn't give it too much thought. With so many products on the market, I really thought it was just another gimmick. Little by little I started to notice that quite a few make up artists, whose work I admire, were using this sponge. I tried it once and was totally hooked!

The beautyblender was created by professional make up artists. The shape of the sponge is amazing for all kinds of make up application, and helps you get in to little creases and corners you can't reach with a traditional sponge or brush. It's latex free, and has a unique velvety texture. The sponges are reusable (which is better for the earth) and come with the blendercleanser which is also a terriffic brush cleaner.

The sponge works best when damp, so cleaning the sponges on set doesn't pose any kind of major setback. I once had an actress tell me "I can always tell a make up artist knows what they're doing when they use those sponges." It's really worth the investment!

P.S. Here's a video that will give you a better idea of how to use and clean your beautyblender.

Let me know if you try it! I'd love to know what you think! :)

Younger Than Yesterday

Speaking of Chanel, I will be turning another year older next month, and I just have to thank my Sublimage creams for all of their hard work. ;)

High fives all around!

All Dressed Up

I'm finding myself completely obsessed with Chanel Glossimer in Sundress.

Chanel Glossimers are probably my number one favorite lipgloss.

It's really unique because it's the only lipgloss I know of with a gel formula that keeps it from slipping and being sticky, or creasing. They always have amazing new limited edition shades. I consider myself a bit of a collector at this point. :)

Tartes of Pleasure

Two products that are blowing my mind right now:

I was finding myself at the bottom of the tub of my beloved Sara Happ Lip Scrub...

As I was contemplating purchasing another one, I discovered Tarte FRXtion

One side is a gentle exfoliator similar to the Lip Scrub, and the other side is a a lip balm with aloe, chamomile, jojoba, and vitamins a & e. It even comes with a handy little mirror. It's great for chapped lips, or just to keep your lips perfectly pouty!

My other major obsession... Tarte's multiplEYE natural lash enhancer

There are a lot of products on the market that claim to grow or thicken lashes, but most of them are well over $100 and some contain some sketchy ingredients. When I found out Tarte developed their own lash enhancer, I had to try it. Tarte's products are all natural (I fell in love with the brand long before I knew that!) and always affordable.

I've been using my multiplEYE diligently for a week now and have noticed SIGNIFICANT improvement, not only in the length of my lashes, but in the density of my lashes as well! This product comes with my HIGHEST recommendation!

Mint Condition

I'm feeling a bit under the weather and in no mood to blog, but I would be doing you a great disservice if I did not point you in the direction of All Lacqured Up for the news that Chanel is finally releasing their mint green nail lacquer that we all went ga ga for during their Fall '09 runway show! It's called Jade, and there's a pale pink called Jade Rose.

My head is exploding. Bisou bisou babies!

Girl Talk

I'm so flattered! In case you don't know, youtube has a thriving beauty community with lots of interesting tutorials and reviews. My favorite youtuber is Lorraine Stanick. She just did a review of her "Armani haul" (blogger lingo!) and talks about buying the green Armani eyeliner I recommended on Blush.com.

Check out her indepth Armani review, and subscribe to her youtube channel.

Also, microblogging has made me a bit lazy, so if you're on twitter follow me and follow Lorraine! There's lots of cool beauty related twitter accounts!

P.S. I'm having extreme internet fail lately. For some reason I can not comment on youtube videos, and I'm not searchable on Twitter. *sigh*

Sweet Escape

Hi everybody! I'm still alive! I've just been busy with my "day job" of being a make up artist! I've been so lucky to do some really cool and very creative jobs lately that I can't wait to be able to share with you! I also had the honor of being a guest at a luncheon for Dior Beauty celebrating make up artists and their clients, and raising money for Operation Smile.

It was a great day, and I had the absolute honor of meeting one of my favorite make up artists Kathy Jeung. Here's a small sampling of her work... She's definitely a "make up artist to obsess over"...

To top it all off, I went home with a bag full of make up goodies and some new sunglasses!

I also recently attended a private gallery viewing of the Dark Night of the Soul project I worked on with David Lynch. It was such an honor to work with Mr. Lynch, and an amazing feeling to see all the photos up on the gallery walls.

My name even made it into the "thank you" section of the Dark Night of the Soul book! If you are in Los Angeles, the show is up at the Michael Kohn Gallery through July 11, and it's KanYe approved!

Needless to say, I'm pretty much loving life right now, and I hope you are too!
